The Messages in Your Dreams

Have you ever wondered about those strange experiences we have during the night we call dreams? What do they mean? Why do we have them? In almost every ancient text, dreams are experienced as messages from the Divine.

Dreams are the most direct way for us to access our own inner wisdom. Unfortunately, the language of dreams is sometimes difficult to understand. In most cases dreams are not literal. They are symbolic in nature. They may seem to make no sense, but within your dreams are clues that can offer insight related to current challenges or life situations, or even plans and directions for the future.

The best way to get started deciphering this valuable information is to write down your dreams and keep a journal. You will likely notice themes and symbols of messages meant for you to receive. The challenge is to remember your dreams. Many say that they do not have dreams, but likely they are just forgetting them. Here is a list of ideas to help you get started. 

Tips for Remembering Dreams

1. Set your intention to remember your dreams before you go to sleep. Energy follows intent. We help our unconscious to believe we are serious by doing this simple step.
   
   
2. Have a pad of paper and a pen next to your bed. Write down your dream or at least a few key words before you get out of bed. Sometimes getting up and walking will cause a dream to disappear from consciousness.
   
   
3. Try not to begin thinking about all you have to do the minute you wake up. Getting into a linear pattern of thinking removes you from that non-linear part of the brain where dreams are created.
   
   
4. Try not to wake up to a radio. Thinking about a song or the news makes it difficult to hang on to a dream.
   
   
5. Try to go to bed around the same time every night. Regular sleep patterns help one to remember dreams.

In this 6-week in-person group, you will learn how to work with dreams through a process called projective dream work. The messages from your dreams will become clear as we take a deep dive into the unconscious!

Rev. Nancy Huslage will lead us on this dream journey. Nancy is an interfaith minister with 30 years of experience helping people understand their dreams. She is a faculty member at the Haden Institute, mentoring students in the Dream Work Training program.
